A large SUV has broad surfaces: a tall door, a substantial arch, a long shoulder line. Beside that body, a wheel can read as a flat graphic or as a form with depth. Concavity changes which of those impressions reaches the eye first.
Light makes the depth visible.
When spokes descend toward the center, their surfaces meet the light at different angles. The rim catches a brighter edge while the center can remain quieter. Viewed from three quarters, that transition gives the face a sense of volume. Straight on, the same wheel may appear more restrained.
The center becomes a destination for the eye.
VISUAL COMPARISON / CONCAVITY / DEPTH
FORM GAINS ANOTHER DIMENSION.
Follow the spoke profile from the outer rim to the center.
Read it beside the whole car.
Depth feels different on different silhouettes. On an upright SUV, it can give the wheel a strong focal point beneath a simple body line. A brushed surface makes the changes in plane easier to read; a darker finish can turn the same form into a quieter shadow.
Our ARC-01 design study explores that sculptural direction. Compare it with the broad proportions of the Patrol vehicle page, then share the angle and finish you prefer. The final profile follows an individual review of the design and vehicle; deeper is not a universal requirement.
